Fashion reflects a society’s preferences, beliefs, and values. When a person carries a particular fashion statement, it becomes a trend when it is adopted by others. If the style is worthy of imitation by others, then you have a fashion at hand.

People are slow to adopt fashion trends. Most of them do when the majority of people follow it. A large part of the population may take to fashion reluctantly because of shyness, lack of confidence, and general hesitation.Fashion designers over the years have known one fact. Consumers tend to like unique colors, styles, and combinations. Fashion designers then use their creativity to combine unique colors and styles to create a fashionable clothing line.

Consumers like to wear colors that do not give away the bad qualities of their skin tone. They want neutralizing colors that negate the negative effects of the imperfections in their skin tone. Most consumers prefer such colors. But in the fashion world, clothing lines seldom focus on clothes based on the skin tone of the consumer. They make clothes for everybody, without knowing that everybody can’t wear everything.

Consumer tastes change based on a variety of factors. All around them, consumers are exposed to changing economic conditions. Then there is also the influence of the media. Media creates characters on televisions and in films. The characters wear clothes based on the creativity of the director, casting director, and fashion designer.

All these things influence the mind of the consumer. Fashion designers need to take cognizance of this fact.
